Required Tests
Students whose native language is not English must submit the results of the Test of English
as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). To be considered for academic scholarships, applicants need
to take either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Testing Program
(ACT). The applicant must request that the testing agency submit the official results to
Christian Brothers University.
To be considered for admission for the upcoming Fall semester, the preferred last testing
date to take the SAT or ACT are the October or December test dates. This will give the
applicant time to get all documents together to complete the application file and sign the
necessary forms for obtaining an I-20. February and April tests are acceptable but you
should consider the time frame of submitting all documents, the admissions decision,
obtaining an I-20, and preparing for the VISA interview with your consultant.
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) code for Christian Brothers University is 1121 and
the ACT code is 3952. For additional information or to register for the Scholastic Aptitude
Test visit the College Board's
website. To register for the American College Testing Program
visit the ACT website.
For more information taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language, visit the TOEFL
website. A student must obtain a score of 173 or higher on the TOEFL Computer Based
Test, a
score of 500 or higher on the paper-based version, or a score of 61 or higher on the TOEFL
iBT in order to meet admission requirements.
