A Message from President John Smarrelli
Dear Friend of CBU,
When you build a house, you don’t just finish construction and consider
it completed forever. As the years go by, you’ll need to maintain that
house, repair it, and even expand it as your family grows.
The Christian Brothers realized this when they established CBU in 1871.
They knew this home they were building for students would have to grow
and change with time. That’s why the campus moved from Adams Street to
East Parkway in 1940, and why the Brothers
established a separate campus for Christian Brothers High School in
1965. These changes helped the Brothers continue to serve the needs of
the growing Mid-South community.
Now it’s time for the next phase of our growth. CBU serves more students
now than at any time in our history. Whether they are residents or
commuters, legacies or first generation, more than 1,500 students
consider our campus a home. And of course many generations
of alumni do as well, which is why we invite them back every year to
A home is an investment. It’s only as good as the upkeep you put into
it. We want CBU to be the best home it can be. Our current “Faith in
Progress” campaign lays out a comprehensive plan for investing in and
expanding our university.
I hope you’ll show your support of CBU by
making a contribution today.
The legacy the Brothers began building more than 140 years ago continues
today, and it continues with you. Thank you for your support.
