I am originally from Brooklyn, NY and lived in NY for the first 12 years of my life. My parents moved us to Marietta, Georgia in the summer of 1982 where I attended middle and high school. In the fall of 1988, I went off to the University of Tennesse, Knoxville where I graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (concentration:
marketing). After marrying my husband, Lon in August of 1992, I moved to Memphis and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching (concentration: special education) in 1995. We have two wonderful children: Parker, 7 and Leeya, 4. In 2004, with the amazing support of my family, I completed my Doctor
of Education from the University of Memphis (concentration: reading instruction and curriculum).

I love Christian Brothers University! I am of the teaching
philosophy that we all can learn and become open to different teaching and learning styles given the proper instruction. I am the director of Undergraduate Teacher Education and Initial Teaching Licensure, including the Master of Arts in Teaching program. I am currently in contact with a wonderful special education teacher at St. Mary's College in Belfast, Ireland. Each semester we have a distance learning class and we look
forward to collaborating on a paper for publication entailing the
comparison of special education in Memphis and Belfast! When I am not at CBU, I enjoy watching my children on the soccer field, at gymnastics, ballet, tae-kwon-do, and swimming!
