I received my
B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees (all in philosophy) from Yale
University. Prior to coming to CBU, I taught at California
State University, Hayward, and at Bowdoin College in Brunswick,
Maine.
I have been a faculty member at Christian
Brothers University since 1977, and served as Dean of the
School of Arts from 1993-1999. I have taught a variety of
philosophy and interdisciplinary courses. My teaching and
research specializations include ethics, history of philosophy
(including American philosophy), environmental ethics, and
the philosophical and ethical implications of science and
technology. My personal interests include railroads (full-sized
and model), science fiction, and travel.
