I received my B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees (all in philosophy) from Yale University. Prior to coming to CBU, I taught at California State University, Hayward, and at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.

I have been a faculty member at Christian Brothers University since 1977, and served as Dean of the School of Arts from 1993-1999. I have taught a variety of philosophy and interdisciplinary courses. My teaching and research specializations include ethics, history of philosophy (including American philosophy), environmental ethics, and the philosophical and ethical implications of science and technology. My personal interests include railroads (full-sized and model), science fiction, and travel.
