Music
courses include Private Voice Instruction, Private Piano Instruction,
Music Appreciation, Music Theory, CB Singers, and World Music. These
classes are open to all students; however, Private Voice Instruction,
Private Piano Instruction, and CB Singers require auditions. Whether
students have had previous music instruction or not they can find
some course in music to fit their needs.
Every
semester students perform in the CBU Concert Series. Recitals and
concerts are presented on campus as well as in many venues in the
Memphis area. The CB Singers perform several concerts each semester.
Most recently they performed Handel's Messiah, with members of the
Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Other works have included The Requiem
by John Rutter, The Christmas Cantata by Daniel Pinkham and Requiem
by Gabriel Faure.
A
minor in Music Performance requires eighteen (18) credit hours,
including MUSC 113 and 475, 3 hours of Private voice or Private
Piano, CB Singers, and 6 hours of electives to be selected in consultation
with the Fine Arts and Speech Department Chair.
Add
something new and exciting to your schedule by becoming involved
in music at CBU! Students who are interested in Private Voice Instruction,
Private Piano Instruction and CB Singers are encouraged to contact
Tommy Gaines at jgaines@cbu.edu.
