Castings
Castings is the CBU Literary Journal that
publishes the art, poetry and prose of our students. It's an opportunity
for students to showcase their talent and represent the creativity
within the CBU community. It is put together every Spring semester
by two student editors and overseen by Dr. Steve Grice in the School
of Arts. The journal is usually distributed across campus the week
before final exams in the Spring.
Contest
To help promote the journal and motivate
students, submissions are entered into a contest where the winning
students in each category will win a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place monetary
prize. The deadline for the contest is always the the Friday before
Spring Break and the deadline for publication in the journal is
the Friday after Spring Break.
Submissions
There is no limit for how many pieces a student can enter, but
they should identify no more than two or three pieces that they
would like to be judged in the contest. Extra submissions will simply
be published in the book if there is enough page space. Each category
has three judges (professors) from the different departments on
campus. There are two expert judges and one neutral judge to decide
the winners.
