Craig A. Anderson, Ph.D.

A Distinguished Professor (2005) in the Department of Psychology at Iowa State University, Dr. Anderson received his Ph.D. at Stanford University. His main research interests are in social and personality psychology with an emphasis on cognitive psychology. His current research focuses on aggression, especially violent video games. He has recently published a book on this topic, Violent Video Game Effects on Children and Adolescents: Theory, Research, and Public Policy. In addition, his lab is investigating temperature effects on aggressive behavior. Based on this research, Dr. Anderson predicts that global warming will produce substantial increases in violent crimes. Dr. Anderson was Psi Chi “Professor of the Year” in 1994 and is among the top 10 cited scholars.
