Many teachers find the demands of being a professional teacher difficult and at times stressful. Serious consequences can occur when work results in burnout. This interactive workshop will address the topic of understanding and preventing teacher burnout. This session will include: · Taking and evaluating a teacher burnout instrument to identify your current status. · Discussing the symptoms of teacher burnout. · Sharing “stories” of teacher burnout. · Discussing prevention practices for teacher burnout. · Sharing “stories” of prevention strategies. · Reviewing a journal article on teacher burnout. Student Interest Session Buckman 102 Overcoming Apathy Andrea Bordwell, CBU Chapter Psi Chi President Apathy is a problem for students both in the academic setting as well as in the “real world” of work. The student interest session focuses on the causes of apathy as well as simple ways to overcome a decreased desire to act.
