MBA Format
The MBA @ CBU is structured around cohort groups of 20-25 students. Two new cohorts are formed each year, one in August and the second in January. Students remain with the same cohort groups for the entire two years of the program. Courses are taken sequentially, in a lock-step format. Start dates for the two cohorts is provided on the MBA Academic Calendar. Each class in the program meets once a week for four hours over an eight-week time frame. An exact schedule of important dates for each cohort is provided on the Schedule of Courses Page. MBA Curriculum The 30 hour MBA curriculum consists of 10 courses taken one at a time in sequential order. The curriculum is designed so students focus on one subject area at a time, allowing for more in depth learning, concentration, and application of each business discipline: management, accounting, information technology, operations, ethics, law, finance, accounting, marketing, and economics. The curriculum culminates in a sixteen-week (2 course) capstone experience. Students take part in an interactive simulation followed by a case analysis application applying and integrating all prior course work. Each new student will be required to attend an orientation program. The primary purposes of this orientation program are to:
Familiarize students with the LaSallian tradition Provide you with an opportunity to meet other new students in your cohort Distribute books for the first course Familarize students with the CBU campus, ITS, the library, and alumni services Complete all administrative tasks – parking stickers, id cards, business office work, etc. The course of study adopted by the graduate faculty for the MBA program takes into consideration the immediate and long term needs of future managers and recognizes the areas of special competence generally found in a successful manager’s repertory. The recommended sequence of courses in the MBA core is as follows: MMGT 601 Organizational Behavior
All of the courses have been designed to complement the varied experiences of the working adult. Further, the curriculum includes a well-balanced mix of formal classroom student-instructor contact, assigned homework, individual and group project and report writing, theory, lectures and case studies all designed with real world decision making in mind.
