CBU Presents Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors

Memphis – Christian Brother University (CBU) announces the dramatic production, The Comedy of Errors, to be held in the University Theater, February 27-March 1. Disney's "Parent Trap" and movies starring the Olsen twins are modern remakes of William Shakespeare's treatment of mistaken identity as depicted in The Comedy of Errors which deals with not one set of twins but two!

Shakespeare’s fascination with the concept of mistaken identity is taken to a new extreme in one of his lesser known plays, The Comedy of Errors. When a boat carrying a mother and father, their identical twin sons and the sons’ servants, also identical twins, crashes; the brothers and servants become separated from one another and the parents. Years later, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to much confusion. This comedy includes not only Shakespeare’s signature wordplay and puns, but also the slapstick and physical comedy of the actors.

Show times for The Comedy of Errors are Friday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $2 for ANY college student with ID and CBU faculty members. Tickets will be sold at the door, no reserved seating. Advance ticket sales will be provided on campus through members of the Encore Drama Club.
