CBU Sororities Hold "Pink Out"

Memphis – Two Christian Brothers University (CBU) sororities, Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha, will host the first annual "Pink Out" basketball games on Thursday, February 12. These games are being held to boost awareness about breast cancer and to raise funds to support the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation. The Foundation supports breast cancer education and awareness as well as education of young women in areas such as sexual abuse, alcohol abuse, etc. They also collect funds for scholarships for women to attend college.

The CBU Buccaneers and Lady Bucs (NCAA Division II) will play during this event. The women’s basketball game will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game. The games will be held in the Canale Arena. The teams will play with a pink game ball, and the crowd is encouraged to wear pink in support of the teams and the cause.

The first 30 spectators will receive a free Buccaneer "Pink Out" t-shirts. Other spectators will be able to purchase a "Pink Out" t-shirt for $7 at the door. T-shirts will also be available for $7 at the Buccaneer basketball game on February 5. All proceeds will go to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation. In addition to the t-shirts, there will be giveaways during both half times.

Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy has been breast cancer awareness and education for more than 20 years. They have joined forces with the NFL, NBA and NCAA to raise money and awareness in the past.

This year’s inaugural "Pink Out" is the first joint effort for CBU’s Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. Both sororities plan to make this an annual event.

Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for CBU students. Tickets will only be available at the door. ###
