Students in Principles of Biology Lab
The Biology Department offers two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science.  The Biology degree offers excellent preparation for many different careers, including most of the health careers such as medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, optometry, nursing, and physical therapy.  Biology majors can also select a Biology degree with a concentration in Environmental Science.  The Biomedical Science degree is a specialized biology degree tailored to provide the strongest foundation for graduate programs in medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine.

The CBU Biology Department offers a strong academic program with a variety of Biology courses including selections in the fields of human & biomedical biology, organismal biology, evolutionary biology & ecology, and cell & molecular biology.   In addition to our strong academic program, CBU Biology offers personalized advising, state of the art lab equipment with a lab component for nearly every course, and small classes.
CBU biology and biomedical sciences majors present their laboratory or field research at the annual CBU research poster session and at a scientific meeting.  Many CBU students have their research published.  You can view a slide presentation describing the CBU Biology research courses.  CBU students also have opportunities for international research and service through MHIRT and Haiti Medical Missions.

The Department also offers, in conjunction with the Department of Education, a five-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in natural science, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree, and teaching licensure in biology or biology and chemistry for grades 7 through 12.

Biology and biomedical science students at CBU organize and participate in a variety of activities through the Mu Tau chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national undergraduate biology honor society.
