Sophie Coors was born in Houston, Texas, but has lived all her life in Memphis, Tennessee. She is married to Giles A. Coors. Sophie majored in art at Mount Vernon College in Washington, DC., and studied at the Memphis College of Art under such noted artists as Fred Burton, Dorothy Sturm, Veda Reed, and Burton Callicott. Her teaching and exhibition experience is extensive and has taken her and her art to Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Colorado, South Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Maine, Arizona, Connecticut, and Florence, Italy.
