Remy Miller Drawings

January 10 - February 14, 2003

Remy Miller received his B.F.A from the University of Connecticut and his M.F.A. from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. His career as a teacher includes positions at St. Olaf College; the Toledo Museum of Art at the University of Toledo; Bowling Green State University; and, since 1987, the Memphis College of Art. His paintings and drawings have appeared in exhibitions in Kentucky, Colorado, Arkansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, and New York. Locally, he has exhibited at Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects, Rhodes College, Cossitt Gallery, the Memphis Arts Festival, and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Miller was the Tennessee editor for New Art Examiner (1989-91) and has written numerous articles for the local journal, Number:. His own work has appeared or been reviewed in The Commercial Appeal, The Memphis Flyer, Number:, and the Memphis Business Journal.

In the summer of 2001, Miller served a residency at Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughn, Ireland (with the aid of a Faculty Development Grant from the Memphis College of Art). Some of the work in this exhibition was produced during and following that residency.
