The best starting point for any sort of research, databases are large collections of information which may include citations, abstracts, ebooks, fulltext articles from scholarly journals or magazines, images, multi-media files and more.
CINAHL: The Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature--the major index for the subject of nursing. Includes the full text of 600+ journals. Limited to 4 simultaneous users. Coverage: 1937-present. If you are starting a research project in nursing, CINAHL is a good place to begin.
OVID - LWW Nursing and Professional Practice Journal Collection: Searchable ejournal database of 60 major nursing and health science journals.
Other databases that may be useful are: ERIC (education, particularly useful for articles on patient education and health communication), PsycInfo (psychology), Health Reference Center Academic (health sciences in general), and PubMed (medicine).

The National Guideline Clearinghouse is a part of AHRQ.
