DATABASES PERIODICALS

Click here for Science databases (including Chemical Engineering).

The best starting point for any sort of research, databases are large collections of information which may include citations, abstracts, ebooks, fulltext articles from scholarly journals or magazines, images, multi-media files and more.

Find Journals on Chemical Engineering.

Journals found here are available in print at Plough Library and/or online through CBU databases. Look for the name of the journal you are interested in, for example:

  • chemical engineering and technology
  • developments in chemical engineering and mineral processing
  • international journal of chemical and biomolecular engineering

NEWS/BLOGS REFERENCE BOOKS / E-BOOKS
(For more, search the BUCCAT Library Catalog)
  • Chemical and Engineering News: Electronic version of American Chemical Society (ACS) subscription journal. Provides weekly table of contents of latest issue with full text of selected feature articles, special reports on particular technologies and product reports. Archived Tables of Contents are available back to mid-1998. What's That Stuff section contains articles about active compounds and their actions in particular products (such as aircraft de-icers, lipsticks, chocolate, etc). Includes indexes of the Chemical Safety Letters since 1993 with links to full text.
  • Knovel Engineering Cases-Chemical Engineering: Blog featuring case studies in chemical engineering.
  • Knovel Solutions: Blog with descriptions of real-world applications of Knovel database tools and resources.
  • An Introduction to Materials Engineering and Science for Chemical and Materials Engineers, Wiley ebook.
  • Excel for Scientists and Engineers (2006), Wiley ebook.
  • Fluid Flow for the Practicing Chemical Engineer (2008), Wiley ebook.

USEFUL WEBSITES

American Chemical Society Publications Division: Offers information about ACS publications, with links to individual publications and web editions of journals. Some full-text articles are available. Other features include CHEMCYCLOPEDIA, the Library Letter, and the LabGuide Online.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers: Includes information on the institute. and its operatations, and details of membership. Newsroom has news related to government, industry, the institute and members. CEPmagazine, the institute's newsletter, contains  technical and professional information and is archived from 1987.

ChemAlliance: Offers feature articles about effective regulatory compliance and environmental management strategies for process industries; a regulatory and compliance reference handbook; self assessment tools for compliance, risk management, environmental management systems, and pollution prevention; a contacts database of experts on regulatory and pollution prevention topics; and a glossary of environmental and regulatory terms.

Chemfinder: Produced by CambridgeSoft Corporation, Chemfinder is a free, searchable chemical database allowing searches by common or trivial chemical name, chemical formula, molecular weight, or CAS registry number. Structural searches are possible using a Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry System (SMILES) in which 2- and 3-dimensional chemical structures are represented in linear textual format. Provides information including chemical structure, melting, boiling and flash point, specific gravity, vapor density, water solubility, RTECS, DOT, and CAS number.

Chemdex: Directory of chemistry on the world-wide web, based at the University of Sheffield Department of Chemistry. Site has the following top level categories: chemistry; communication; companies; government sites; learned societies; miscellaneous; molecules; people; portals, link sites; the elements; the periodic table; university departments (UK and USA subsections); and www and standards.

Chemistry.org from the American Chemical Society (ACS): Provides information and links for ACS members and others involved in chemistry or chemical technology. Sections link to information on membership, conferences, education and document delivery systems.

eFunda Engineering Fundamentals: Its mission is to create an online destination for the engineering community, where working professionals can quickly find concise and reliable information to meet the majority of their daily reference needs.

Science.gov - Chemical Engineering: Government science organizations select their best science information for science.gov. Includes selected authoritative science Web sites and often hard-to-access scientific databases (specific content varies by database).

ScienceCinema: Video and multimedia content from Department of Energy, OSTI, Science.gov, and WorldWideScience.org. VIDEOS.

Scitopics: authoritative overviews of up-to-date research in Chemical Engineering.

TAPPI Journal Online Archive: Articles on paper and packaging engineering from 1990 to the present.
