PubMed: Premier index to biomedical journal literature; includes MedLine citations as well as citations from scientific journals.

A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia: 4,000 articles about diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, and surgeries, plus medical photographs and illustrations.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality: The health services research arm of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

AVMAtv: Streaming videos about the profession from the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Centers for Disease Control: Find information and statistics on health and safety topics, including diseases, emergency preparedness, environmental health, injuries, and workplace safety.

CDC Wonder: Statistical database from the Centers for Disease Control; includes statistics on AIDS, vaccine reactions, biriths, cancer, and mortality.

Food & Drug Administration: Provides information on food, drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, vaccines, and more; recalls and alerts included.

HON - Health on the Net Foundation: A non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting useful and reliable online health information; includes sections for patients as well as medical professionals.

Images from the History of Medicine: Provides access to nearly 70,000 images in the National Library of Medicine (NLM); includes portraits, photographs, caricatures, genre scenes, posters, and graphic art illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine (15th to 21st century).

Martindale's Virtual Medical Center: Guide to medical resources on the web--cases, grand rounds, courses, lectures, databases; sub-divided by specialty.

MedlinePlus: Source of reliable consumer-oriented medical information, selected by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) from numerous websites.

MedlinePlus Medical Dictionary: Look up medical terminology.

MedScape: Designed for physicians and medical professionals; a source of medical news, CMEs, conferences and other information; specialty resource centers also available; free registration.

Merck Manuals Online Medical Library: Provides content of the print Merck Manuals as a public service; updated periodically with new information; contains photographs, and audio/video material.

Merck Veterinary Manual: Provides animal care information.

National Institutes of Health: Website of the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research.

Netter Images: Collection of medical illustrations; predefined mini-collections available.

Nutrient Data Laboratory: Search for the nutritional values of different foods.

Public Health Image Library: Collection of still images, image sets, and multimedia files related to public health.

U.S. Pharmacopeia: Sets standards for prescription and over–the–counter medicines and other healthcare products, including food ingredients and dietary supplements manufactured or sold in the United States.

Visible Human Project: Complete, anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of the normal male and female human bodies.
