Summary:
The Academic Coordinator will provide leadership in the development, design, implementation and assessment of the Program curriculum. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of all aspects of the 15-month didactic component of the Program. This will include working with the Program Director and principal faculty in developing teaching schedules, teaching schedules, and faculty and student assessment. The Academic Coordinator will also chair the Curriculum Committee. This individual will play a major in preparing the Program for ARC-PA accreditation as well as programmatic ongoing assessment and strategic planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Program Director with Program design and development, especially in areas of didactic instruction.
- Work with Clinical Coordinator to ensure matriculating students are well prepared to enter into the clinical phase of the Program.
- Teach in areas of expertise.
- Chair Curriculum Committee
- Provide academic and career advising to matriculating students.
- Participate in ongoing Program assessment advising the Program Director regarding programmatic or policy changes with special focus on didactic component.
- Maintenance of student records
- Ensure adherence to Program grading/student assessment policies.
- Work with the Program Director, Medical Director, and Clinical Coordinator in the development and implementation of a faculty development program.
- Attend University meetings on behalf of the Program.
- Ensure adherence to course syllabi by teaching faculty.
- Monitor faculty performance in the classroom.
- Participate in graduation.
- Serve as member of the Program’s Advisory Board.
- Represent the Program in the medical community and the local community at-large.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program.
- NCCPA certified.
- Working knowledge of ARC-PA accreditation process.
- Current licensure in Tennessee
- Teaching experience.
- Academic administration experience desirable.
- Minimum of two years clinical practice.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational ability.
