Commencement is one of the most exciting days of your life, but there's some planning involved! Here are a few tips to make sure the big day goes off without a hitch:
WHAT TO WEAR
Remember that you’ll be wearing a long robe over your clothes, so dress comfortably in cool, lightweight fabrics to avoid the possibility of overheating. Wear something with pockets because you won’t want to carry a bag/purse - enough pocket space for your keys and phone should suffice. For footwear, we recommend closed-toe wedges, flats, or (worst case scenario) cute galoshes. Heels can be problematic, as they can sink into the turf of the soccer field. You might want to try walking a lot in the shoes you choose the day before Commencement to make sure they’ll be comfortable. Remember your sunscreen! (Or your umbrella if rain in in the weather forecast.)
SIGN UP FOR COMMENCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS VIA TEXT MESSAGING
In addition to announcing on social media and the commencement website page, you can also receive text message alerts by texting "BUCS" to 313131.
SHOW UP ON TIME - SEE PARKING & TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Participating graduates are expected to be at CANALE ARENA by 7:30 a.m. to line up by school/major. It is imperative for students to arrive on time so that the ceremony moves on in an expedient manner. Park in the Central Lot or the Faculty/Staff Lot behind Canale Arena.
LOOK GOOD AHEAD OF TIME
Immediately after you receive your diploma on stage, you will be prompted to pause for a photo as you walk off to the left of the stage. If you would like to purchase that photo, you can do so through at this preregistration link. GradImages is also offering a coupon for $5 off if you register BEFORE the ceremony.
KNOW YOUR WAY AROUND CAMPUS
Whether you'll be on campus for the first or 5,000th time, parking happens a bit different on Commencement Day. Acquaint yourself with the official Commencement Day map to get started.
