The Center for Digital Instruction is ready to help our faculty members with this preparation, and the Center has posted a Rapid Response site with advice and instructions for faculty to quickly move their coursework online.
The U.S. Department of Education has advised all institutions of higher education to make preparations that allow for either continuity of instruction or class cancellation. For this reason, we have strongly encouraged faculty to prepare for such an interruption by ensuring that they have clear communication channels with their students and to proceed in moving lessons and other appropriate course content online.
In lieu of the most important recommendation for everyone — to stay home if you’re sick — all faculty members have been requested to implement a forgiving policy on student absences during this period and to keep in mind the health and well-being of our community and provide some lenience to students whose absences may be due to following this preventative measure.
