I'm confused about the new Business
Office and Financial Aid rules?
In order to be in compliance with new federal regulations regarding
financial aid, CBU has had to make adjustments in its Business Office
and financial aid policies. Please contact the Business Office at 321-3380
or visit the Business Office
website about payment polices or refunds. You can contact the Office
of Student Financial Resources with questions regarding Federal
Financial Aid and eligibility requirements.
Can I take a course at another institution
while attending CBU?
The answer is a qualified no. It is the policy of CBU that our students
can not take classes at another institution for transfer back to CBU
while also taking classes at CBU. However, on very rare occasions, students
are allowed to take a class "off-campus". Any student wishing
to take a course at another institution, must complete an "Off-Campus"
form and have it approved before they take the course. Any classes a
student takes without prior approval will not be accepted by CBU. Forms
are available in the Evening Program Office.
Do I need to take any placement exams
before starting class?
Currently, only the Math and Information Technology Depts. give placement
exams. Exams are generally given on the first day of class and students
not passing are placed in a class, more appropriate to their skill level.
Contact the individual depts. for information on exam contents.
How do I get out of a class?
The last day to drop an evening term course is the first Friday of each
term except for the May Term. Submit a Drop/Add request form to the
Evening Program Office via fax, e-mail or in person and an advisor will
take care of it for you. If it is after the drop date, you can withdraw
from a class by contacting the Registrar's Office at 321-3115 or withdraw@cbu.edu
through the fifth week of the term. Be sure you read the Evening Program
Newsletter for the exact drop and withdraw deadlines for each term.
What classes do I need for my major?
Each student should receive a copy of their major checklist when they
have their new student advising. The Checklist, gives all classes and
all other graduation requirements for your major. If you do not have
a copy of your checklist, any Evening Program Advisor can give you a
copy. You can also find all major requirements listed in the CBU Catalog.
Of course, if you have any questions, ask your advisor. Click below
to view a "Road Map to Graduation" for your major.
How do I get a copy of my CBU Transcript?
Official and unofficial transcripts are generated by the Registrar's
Office located in Barry Hall room 114. You may fax your transcript requests
to 321-3257. You must include you full name, social security number,
approximate date of last attendance and your signature. Federal Regulations
prohibit the release of your transcript without your signature. If you
have any questions, please call the Registrar's
Office at 321-3889.
How do I change my address with the school?
It is very important that CBU has your current address and phone number
on file. If you move or change jobs, please come by the Evening Program
Office and complete a change of address form. This way, we can keep
you informed.
I plan on graduating soon. What do
I need to do to ensure that I do?
You must complete an "Intent to Graduate Form" and submit
it to the Registrar's Office. If you do not complete both sides of the
intent to graduate form, you cannot graduate. You also need to attend
one of several graduation meetings. You will be given a graduation information
packet along with an Intent to Graduate and Cap and Gown Order Forms.
Be sure to read the weekly Evening Program Newsletter for graduation
announcements and events.
What type of financial aid is available?
CBU students are eligible to apply for all forms of federal financial
aid. A very limited amount of Evening Program Scholarships are available.
All students interested in financial aid should complete a Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and contact the CBU Student
Financial Resources Office at 321-3305.
How do I get my books?
All course material is available at the CBU Bookstore. If you can not
make it to campus during regular business hours, contact "Bookstore
Charlie" at 321-3545 to make alternative arrangements. The bookstore
is open late the first two nights of each term except for May.
How do I get my grades?
Grades are e-mailed directly to students at their CBU e-mail address.
Grades are only sent to a CBU e-mail address so contact the
ITS Department at 321- 4438 or stop by the Beringer Computer Center
to set up your account. Grades are also mailed to students’ homes.
Make sure to keep your mailing address current.
Are there any prerequisites for the
course(s) I need to take?
Many of the upper-level courses require that certain prerequisite courses
be completed prior to taking the class. For a complete list of courses
and their corresponding prerequisites, please stop by the Evening Program
office to pick up a list or refer to a current CBU catalog for details.
