Transitions Parent Program: College is a time of transition for the family. There is a new sense of freedom for student, as he/ she becomes more responsible for his/her education. Parents build a foundation for their student prior to college; once he/ she becomes a student at CBU, we build on that foundation. We encourage parents to approach the experience with an open mind, to read cues that their student gives, and to provide support to their student. Dr. Kelli Hefner, Dean of Academic Services, will share information to assist parents in supporting their students during this important time of change.
Parents as Partners in Career Success: Learn how you can assist your student in establishing and accomplishing career goals by encouraging them to take advantage of the services, resources, and programs that Career Services provides to CBU students. Amy Ware, Director of Career Services, will discuss job and graduate school placement outcomes, internship opportunities, and employment trends.
Emotional Support for Your College Student: The transition to college is an exciting time of growth and exploration for most students. This sense of excitement is sometimes coupled with uncertainty and stress as students struggle with the new demands of college. Dr. Tim Doyle, Associate Vice President for Student Life, and members of his staff will address some of the challenges that first-year students may face. He will also offer information and resources to help parents recognize potential issues and support their students emotionally during this time of change.
