The new Host Family Program is an excellent way for all international students and families from the Christian Brothers University community to connect and foster a casual, social relationship. The purpose of a Host Family is to provide a warm and welcoming environment that extends into the community beyond the scope of CBU. This is also a great opportunity for families to have an intercultural experience without leaving home!
The relationship a student and host family develops is ultimately up to them and can take a variety of forms. This could include family dinners, phone calls, attending cultural events, going to sporting events, visiting unique destinations in the city, and more. It is our hope that host families and international students remain connected for at least the first year of the program; however, host families and students may continue to meet beyond the first year. Often times students and families maintain their friendship even past graduation.
Due to the nature of the program, Host Families do NOT provide financial assistance or housing to international students. Students, if you are interested in having a Host Family, contact Dr. Mary McConner.
Faculty, staff, and alumni if you are interested in becoming a Host Family, fill out the application below.
