How to configure Windows 2000 for the CBU
network
BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE FILLED OUT AND TURNED IN
A DORM NETWORK REQUEST
FORM TO THE HELPDESK BEFORE PROCEEDING.
1. First go to the Start Button:
2. Make sure both the Client for Microsoft
Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are both checked. Move your cursor down until the Client for Microsoft
Networks is highlighted:

Click on Properties.

Make sure both Obtain an IP address
automatically and Obtain DNS server
address automatically radio button is
clicked.

Click OK on that screen, then click
OK on the next screen.

Click on Close on that screen, then
click on the X in the upper right
hand corner of the Control Panel
window.
3. At this point you need to reboot your computer:
-
When your computer comes back up you will need to
verify that you have a valid IP address.

To check your IP address, click on Start,
Programs, Accessories, then
Command Prompt.

At the dos prompt type in ipconfig
/all and press the enter key.

Look for the IP Address.
(Figure 6)

Your IP Address should start with
192.168.###.###.
(As opposed to the 169.254.###.### )
-
If you have a correct IP address, you are now on the
network.
