Find your MAC address
How to find your MAC address in MacOS 9 (and earlier)


1. Bring up your "TCP/IP" Control Panel

  • Go to the Apple and Click on it so that the menu drops down
  • Go to the "Control Panels" Sub Menu, and go to "TCP/IP" (See Figure 1)




For Systems with the Apple System Profiler: Go to the Apple Menu, and instead of selecting Control Panels, select "Apple System Profiler." Once the Profiler has loaded, look towards the bottom for a section called Network Overview. If you want to find your MAC address this way follow this link

2. Locate the "info" Window in the "TCP/IP"Control Panel
  • The "TCP/IP" Control Panel has user modes, to access the MAC address, to get int the right user mode, go to the menu on the top of the screen, choose the "Edit" menu, and go to "User Mode"
  • When the "User Mode" Window pops up select the radio button next to advanced. Then click "ok."
  • The "TCP/IP" window now has the info button, click the "Info" button. (See Figure 2)

3. Locate the MAC (Hardware) address.

  • Locate the "Hardware Address." (See Figure 3)
  • Copy the MAC (Hardware) Address onto your Network Request Form , and turn this form into the helpdesk.
