ITS Phone Services - Service Agreement

    Christian Brothers University
    Telephone and Cable Television
    Service Agreement

The following terms and conditions are in effect for the use of University owned telephone and cable television facilities:

    1. The University will provide a live telephone jack in each bedroom of Maurelian, Rozier, Stritch, O'Hara Halls, 170 Oakdale, Avery, and 604 E. Parkway S. for telephone service and voice mail. Local service will be provided at no cost to the student. Local service is defined as calls to Memphis and the surrounding areas such as Collierville, Germantown, etc. Voice Mail will be provided at no cost to the student. It is the responsibility of the resident student to furnish his or her own telephone set and modular telephone cord. Telephone sets may be purchased in the CBU Bookstore or in many department or electronics stores.

    2. The University is also providing a cable television jack in each bedroom of Maurelian, Rozier, Stritch, O'Hara Halls, 170 Oakdale, Avery, and 604 E. Parkway S. Time Warner's basic cable service is provided at no cost to the student. Premium services such as HBO or Cinemax are not available. However, CBU does have their own movie channel and movies can be watched on channel 21. It is the responsibility of the resident student to furnish his or her own cable ready television and coaxial cable (which connects the television to the cable jack).

    3. Long distance calls from CBU campus phones, including dorm phones, can only be made by using a student-provided calling card. Calling cards are available in the CBU Bookstore, as well as most drug stores and gas stations.

    4. The University reserves the right to discontinue service without notice to any student determined to be abusing the telephone or cable television services. Abuse includes, but is not limited to: physical damage to equipment or wiring, attempts to modify service, harassment via telephone, improper use of voice mail, and fraudulent use of long distance authorization codes. Attempts to modify service may result in service interruption for other students. Students will be responsible for any costs to repair damaged telephone and cable television facilities.

    5. Students may not accept incoming collect calls or bill any type of operator assisted call or calling card to the University. This includes but is not limited to: 900 services, billable 800 services, operator assisted long distance, third party, and directory assistance call completions. Students violating this policy will be billed the cost of the call plus a $25 administrative charge. If two students occupy one room, the charge is split between the two students.

    6. Report any telephone or cable television service problems to the ITS Help Desk, extension 4438. Ordinarily, minor service problems will be corrected during regular weekday business hours; major service problems (total loss of campus telephone service, loss of long distance lines, etc.) will be corrected as soon as possible.

    7. Caller ID is not available.

Contacts to the ITS Help Desk may be made in person (ITS is located in Beringer Computer Center) or by calling extension 4438, or via e-mail at help@cbu.edu.
