Web Developer

The Web Developer provides leadership to the server planning, implementation, content management, structure, back-end server processes and interfaces, and operations of CBU’s websites to achieve business goals.  Working with other resources that perform graphical design, provide content, do marketing, advertising, public relations, and specify business requirements, the Web Developer is a very hands-on team member role that integrates all the parts into an attractive, functional, usable, measurable, and maintainable system, using web forms, PHP, SEO/SEM, responsive design techniques, and other web development tools, and interprets web analytics to assist the business to adjust to changing business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential)

  • Web server architecture planning (OS, CMS, tools, capabilities, and functionality)
  • Web server implementation (CMS, web forms, PHP programming, interfaces, back-end processes, application integration, CSS, standards, practices, testing)
  • Web server operations (monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, management)
  • Website metrics (SEO, SEM, web analytics, trends, modeling, forecasts, improvements)

Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential)

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Job Qualifications

  • Two years of college in a closely related field with relevant web development experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • LAMP stack (configuration, tuning, administration), PHP programming for web and databases applications
  • XHTML, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery
  • Content Management System (installation, configuration, operation, upgrades)
  • SEO, SEM, responsive design, web analytics (implementation, configuration, analysis)
  • Big picture understanding of how technology relates to business
  • Must be a results-oriented team player with a friendly and positive customer service attitude
  • Demonstrated discipline, ability, and care to produce documented, maintainable code
  • Willingness to learn new operating systems, development languages, APIs, and database systems 

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in MIS, Computer Science, Web Development, Web Marketing, Electrical Engineering,  or closely related field
  • Current experience with Joomla CMS, architecture, management, and development
  • Current experience implementing and managing Wordpress
  • Extensive experience with Google or other web analytic tools, SEO, SEM, and responsive website design
  • Understanding of data-driven techniques and web analytics
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PHP, XHTML, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery, Mootools, Machform
  • Unix/Linux system builds, security, administration, configuration, tuning, and scripting
  • MySQL and Oracle experience with SQL development skills
  • MVC-based web application framework experience
  • Project management experience, PM training, or PMP certification
  • Administrative knowledge of network infrastructure services, like DNS, firewalls, routers, proxy servers, traffic shaping, load balancers, SSL certificates, and external server hosting, and TCP/IP network protocol architecture and implementation details, network security, SSH, SSL, and SFTP protocols, and mobile/WIFI technologies 

Working Conditions

Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional night or weekend work for maintenance; office setting.  On-call 24/7 for emergencies and support.
