Question: Are there age limits?

Answer: Officially there are no age limits. Our experience shows that young men and women, age 22-28, are the most likely to apply.

Question: Does marital status matter?

Answer: Due to the community nature of the program, we only admit unmarried applicants.

Question: Where should you be in your education when you apply? Is it only for new graduate students or can you already have taken a semester or two of graduate courses?

Answer: Most of our applicants are just out of college, but some who have been out of college for a year or two are also welcome to apply. A college degree is the minimum requirement.

Question: Is there a minimum college G.P.A. for admission?

Answer: Yes, you need a 2.5 GPA.

Question: Can licensed teachers be a member of the LANCE program?

Answer: Yes. The only difference would be that the Masters defree they would obtain would be a M.Ed. rather than a M.A.T.

Question: Do you have to be Catholic?

Answer: Being Catholic is preferred, but not required. We have had two non-Catholic participants thus far. As long as there is an acceptance of the Spiritual Pillar of the program and an agreement to participate in the spiritual growth events of the program, there would be no objections.

Question: How long is the program?

Answer: The LANCE participant commits to two years of teaching in Catholic schools in the diocese of Memphis.

Question: Do you have to live with the other members?

Answer: Community living is an important pillar of the program. Participants are expected to live with other program members for mutual support and example.
