LANCE works with the support of three foundations:
I. Community Life:
LANCErs live in groups of 4 to 7 men and women, sharing practical responsibilities, providing social support, and praying together in a setting that emphasizes stewardship for those students whom LANCErs serve.

II. Professional Development:
Each LANCE participant will be employed full-time, on a reduced stipend, for two years in their placement diocese. In addition, LANCE members complete a two-year program for a tuition-free masters degree from Christian Brothers University's Department of Education. Undergraduate coursework in education is not a prerequisite for admission into LANCE. The masters coursework begins during the summer prior to a LANCEr's first school year, and runs continuously until May during the second year of teaching.

III. Spiritual Growth:
In addition to intra-community spiritual journey, LANCErs participate in summer sessions and semesterly retreats aimed at helping LANCErs grow in the context of Catholic teachings in their spiritual life.
