E-Books are also called electronic books,
digital books, or online books. They are electronic versions of
printed books that can be viewed online via the Internet. You
can search e-Books for quick research and reference or read them
at your leisure. CBU students, faculty, and staff have access
to over 40,000 e-Books.
Advantages:
e-Books can be accessed 24 hours, 7 days
a week
e-Books can be accessed from Plough Library,
or from home/off-campus with your CBU e-mail username and
password
See the Electronic Books
page for a list of eBook collections available to CBU students,
faculty, and staff, as well as links to free, online e-Book sites.
From the Electronic Books page, select an eBook collection
(NetLibrary, for example) from the list.
Follow the directions for searching in the specific
collection.
Note: If you are off-campus and trying
to access one of the subscription e-Book databases, the
login screen for CBU's proxy server (EZproxy) will come
up. Type in your email username and password to gain access
to these databases.
How do I access e-Books
through the library catalog?
While searching BUCCAT, the library's online
catalog, you may notice titles with the text "electronic resource"
beside them in brackets [ ] and a Library Location of "CBU
Online Resource". These titles are e-Books accessible through
netLibrary or another eBook collection.
ON-CAMPUS:
1. When you find an e-Book title in the catalog
that you want to view, simply click on the title:
2. The Brief Record for the title will appear. Scroll down to
where it says Linked Resources, and click on
the link to the e-Book.
OFF-CAMPUS:
From off-campus, you can search for e-Books in the catalog, but
you won't be able to click directly through to view them unless
you have first logged-in through EZproxy. If you are a CBU student
or CBU faculty/staff, you can log in through EZproxy, using your
CBU email username and password, at http://ezproxy.cbu.edu:9000/login?url=http://zeus.cbu.edu.
Logging in from this page will direct you to the library's catalog,
and you will be able to click directly through to any electronic
resources you find in the online catalog. In order to view the
entire e-Book, you will have to create
a free account if you don't already have one.
