It's a sad fact that old books sometimes fall apart or outlive their usefulness. Now is your chance to transform an old book into something entirely new.
In line with Christian Brothers University's sustainability efforts, Plough Library is now accepting entries for Sustain a Book, a repurposed paper art contest open to CBU students, faculty, and staff. Make something decorative or functional -- or both!
See our Pinterest page for project ideas and inspiration.
Entries are due at the Plough Library Reference Desk by 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014. Winners will be announced during CBU's Earth Week festivities.
- Use an old book of your own, or take one from our Free Book shelf in the library foyer. Please only use books in poor condition. The goal of this contest is to give worn or cast-off pages new life.
- Use more than one book, along with any other type of discarded paper material (newspaper, magazines).
- Use other materials, as long as a book is part of the finished piece.
- Make something of any size, preferably under 2 feet square in dimension. (NOTE: Larger items will not be disqualified, but they will be more difficult to accommodate in the library display of all Sustain a Book entries.)
Win a prize and the acclaim of the entire CBU community!
Amazon gift cards: 1st - $75 | 2nd - $50 | 3rd - $25
