The MEM program was developed for the engineer or technical prepared individual, who has professional industrial experience and expects to move up the management ladder to take an increasingly active role in his or her organization’s decision-making process. The MSEM program emphasizes the theories, concepts, and applications of the engineering management discipline. Students will conduct research to identify and propose solutions to engineering management problems.
The purpose of the programs is to prepare students to successfully address supervisory and managerial needs in a technical environment. The role of the engineering manager is viewed as the link between management and technical expertise and involves matching or managing resources in cross-functional or uncoordinated areas, working through people, and simultaneously formulating technical strategies for the success and survival of the enterprise.
