(Memphis)—Christian Brothers University artist in residence, Taga Francis Nuwagaba will speak Friday, April 7 at the Memphis UrbanArt Commission’s (8 South Third Street, Suite 100) monthly “brown bag lunch.” The Ugandan artist is teaching classes, presenting workshops and giving lectures through May 2006 on “Global Awareness Through Art.”
Nuwagaba is one of 850 outstanding foreign faculty and professionals in the Fulbright Scholars Program, America’s flagship international exchange activity. The program, designed to build mutual understanding between people of the United States and other nations, is sponsored by the U.S. department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Fulbright scholars are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement and leadership in their respective fields.
Nuwagaba will present an exhibition of his works beginning March 31 at the DCI Gallery, 768 East Brookhaven Circle.
