Memphis – Dr. Dale Bails has been named the new dean of the School of Business at Christian Brothers University (CBU). He is also a professor of Economics in the Department of Management and Marketing.
Bails joined the faculty at CBU in 1995 and served as the Director of the University’s MBA Program from August 1996 to May 2003. Prior to this, Bails was a consultant for several companies including First Tennessee Bank, Federal Express, Terminix, Inc., and Union Pacific Railroad. He has also been on faculty at the University of Memphis, Valdosta State College, and Missouri Western State College.
CBU is sensitive to the ever-changing business environment and strives to constantly provide curriculum that prepares its graduates to enter this global environment with the skills needed to succeed. Currently, the School of Business has been conducting additional market research to ensure that its curriculum meets this goal. As the new dean, Bails advocates, “The ultimate responsibility of the School of Business is to provide our students with the skills and tools that enable them to compete in a rapidly changing global community. To this end, we have recently restructured our entire curriculum to better fulfill this responsibility.”
A South Dakota native, Bails has done extensive research in various areas of public policy and forecasting. He has authored numerous publications in his discipline and is an active member of multiple professional associations. Bails holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota, a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Nebraska. ###
