CBU Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Christian Brothers University (CBU) kicks off its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month Wednesday, September 17, with a Trivia Lunch in the Thomas Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Random questions will be asked to test and educate students about Hispanic Culture.

The month long celebration continues with Mauricio Calvo, executive director of Latino Memphis, who will lecture on the Hispanic presence in Memphis on Thursday, September 18, at 12:30 p.m. in Sabbatini Lounge. His lecture includes issues on current Hispanic people in Memphis, as well as day-to-day issues they face from language barriers, education, racism, crime, and much more.

On Thursday, September 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Salsa dancing will occur in Alfonso Dining Hall. Salsa lessons will be available from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Sabbatini Lounge that night.

To wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month, Grupo Azteca will perform on Tuesday, September 30, at 7:30 p.m. on the CBU campus. Specific location of this event is being finalized.
