Memphis – David Palmer has been appointed Dean of Information and Technology Services (ITS) at Christian Brothers University (CBU) where he will lead the University’s information technology services and telecommunications. Palmer will be responsible for the overall coordination, operation, assessment and evaluation, supervision and fiscal management of ITS.
As an information technology professional, Palmer brings over 20 years of strategic technology leadership and management experience to CBU. He has a significant hands-on technology background, from multiple global corporations including Hilton Hotels, managing large budgets, global infrastructures, multiple departments, multiple corporate IT acquisitions, and negotiating complex contracts. Furthermore, Palmer has experience working in start-up companies, consulting and seven years in a university information technology services environment.

Palmer was Chief Information Security Officer for a major international corporation for over seven years, managing information security, the IT portion of privacy risk management, corporate policy development, incident response, and audits, directly managing global enterprise compliance programs for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, HIPAA Security, and the IT portion of Sarbanes-Oxley. He also has over 15 years of software development experience in UNIX, Linux, Microsoft, and mainframe environments.
Palmer earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty in Computer Science from the University of Memphis, and was a finalist for the Information Security Executive of the year Southeast Award in 2008.
