CBU S.O.S. – September of Service: 30 Days of Good Deeds is an exciting new service initiative at Christian Brothers University. It is designed to give CBU students, faculty, and staff a different opportunity to serve the Memphis community every single day in September.

By putting CBU’s Lasallian values of faith, service, and community into action, CBU’s S.O.S. will benefit Memphis agencies while providing an opportunity for the CBU community to become more aware of the needs in the Memphis community and how they can directly have a positive impact on them. It is a “win-win.”

When asked what CBU’s S.O.S. means to her, senior biology major Lauryn Murphy replied, “To me, it means really putting CBU on the map for service. I think it will be an awesome opportunity for students to find organizations that really interest and intrigue them. I also think it will let the Memphis community know that we truly want to help out, and maybe it will even open up more doors and opportunities for us!”

Thirty different Memphis agencies will benefit from the talents, care, and energy of the CBU community, including:

  • The Center for Southern Folklore
  • DeNeuville Learning Center
  • GrowMemphis
  • Memphis Union Mission
  • Manna House
  • SRVS
  • Church Health Center
  • Memphis Islamic Center & Heartsong Church
  • Birthright
  • Friends For Life
  • Child Advocacy Center
  • CBU Community Garden
  • Mid-South Food Bank
