Christian Brothers University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). SACS accreditation permits faculty to compete for federally funded research grants and for students to have access to federally subsidized financial aid. It also means that other institutions recognize CBU courses.
While reaffirmation occurs every 10 years - CBU was reaffirmed most recently in 1999 - the accreditation process is an ongoing one and involves two major tasks:
CBU's current certification report and the first complete draft of its QEP were completed in the fall of 2010. A review team will visit the campus March 28-30, 2011.
After a series of meetings involving various stakeholders at CBU during the past two years, Dr. Frank Buscher, the Vice President for Academics, in consultation with Dr. Scott Geis, the QEP director, chose academic advising as CBU's topic for its quality enhancement plan. The President and the Faculty Assembly endorsed this choice.

The three-fold purpose for publishing the Commission's address and contact number is to enable interested constituents (1) to learn about the accreditation status of Christian Brothers University, (2) to file a third-party comment at the time of Christian Brothers University's decennial review, or (3) to file a complaint against Christian Brothers University for alleged non-compliance with a standard or requirement.
