Student Organizations

There is more to our engineering program than just classes and homework! CBU engineers are actively involved in a variety of student activities. We encourage you to take a look at the following programs that enhance the education you receive in classrooms & labs.

Student Project Teams

As an engineering student you have numerous opportunities to collaborate with other undergraduates on special hands-on projects throughout the year. These projects give you real-world experience in planning, designing, implementing, and testing structures and devices. You also get a chance to compete in regional student competitions. CBU sponsors competitions for the following student project teams:

  • The Great Moonbuggy Race, hosted by NASA/US Space & Rocket Center in Hunstville, Alabama
  • ASCE Deep South Conference, Steel Bridge Competition
  • ASCE Deep South Conference, Concrete Canoe Competition
  • IEEE SoutheastCon, Hardware (Robotic) Competition
  • IEEE SoutheastCon, Website Competition
  • Mini-Baja Competition

Student Conferences

Many students present the results of their individual & team projects at student engineering conferences. In recent years, CBU students have made presentations at:

  • AICHE Midsouth Section Student Presentation Competition
  • ASCE Deep South Conference
  • IEEE Southeast Conference
  • ASME Southeast Regional Conference
  • ASME Student Professional Development Conference
