Student Organizations
There is more to our engineering program than just classes and homework! CBU engineers are actively involved in a variety of student activities. We encourage you to take a look at the following programs that enhance the education you receive in classrooms & labs.
Organizations
- American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)
- American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
- Engineer Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
- Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society)
- Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
Student Project Teams
As an engineering student you have numerous opportunities to collaborate with other undergraduates on special hands-on projects throughout the year. These projects give you real-world experience in planning, designing, implementing, and testing structures and devices. You also get a chance to compete in regional student competitions. CBU sponsors competitions for the following student project teams:
- The Great Moonbuggy Race, hosted by NASA/US Space & Rocket Center in Hunstville, Alabama
- ASCE Deep South Conference, Steel Bridge Competition
- ASCE Deep South Conference, Concrete Canoe Competition
- IEEE SoutheastCon, Hardware (Robotic) Competition
- IEEE SoutheastCon, Website Competition
- Mini-Baja Competition
Student Conferences
Many students present the results of their individual & team projects at student engineering conferences. In recent years, CBU students have made presentations at:
- AICHE Midsouth Section Student Presentation Competition
- ASCE Deep South Conference
- IEEE Southeast Conference
- ASME Southeast Regional Conference
- ASME Student Professional Development Conference
