PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY II

Catalog Data Studies of phase equilibra, quantum mechanics and atomic structure, chemical bonding, spectroscopy, diffraction, rates and mechanisms of chemical reactions, catalysis, photochemistry, collision theory, and macromolecules. Offered in the Spring semester. One semester; three credits.
Prerequisite: CHEM 351 and 351L., PHYS 252 and 252L, MATH 232.
Corequisite: CHEM 352
Textbooks Physical Chemistry, 2nd ed.; Laidler and Meiser; Houghton Mifflan Company; Boston (1995).

Goals To teach the student the application of the methods of physics to chemical problems. To prepare the student for succeeding chemistry or chemical engineering courses.
