Qualifiers for Olympiad National Exam

The following students have qualified to return to CBU at 8:15 am on Saturday, April 25, 2009, for the Olympiad National Exam. They qualified by taking the Local Olympiad Exam and pledged that they met the qualifications:

  • are a US Citizen!
  • are willing to return to CBU for the National Olympiad Exam on Saturday April 25, 2009.
  • are willing to attend the training camp during June 21-27, 2009 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado.
  • are willing to participate in the 41st International Chemistry Olympiad competition July 18-27, 2009 in Cambridge, England .

    The United States Chemistry Olympiad Committee specifies that no more than 2 students from any one school may participate in the National Chemistry Exam.

    The total time for this year's National Exam is 205 minutes. Part I (90 minutes) is a multiple choice test covering a broad range of chemical topics. Part II (105 minutes) requires written responses explaining the meaning and/or use of chemical models and theories. Part III (90 minutes) is a laboratory practical that seeks to identify students’ ability to handle practical tasks, to solve problems, and to demonstrate laboratory techniques. The Qualifying Students need to R.S.V.P. by 5:00pm Monday, April 20, 2009.

    The following statement appears in the instructions to the examiner,
    "Before the Exam"
    Nonprogrammable calculators will be furnished.

    The students will record their answers on Scantron answer sheets. The student should bring at least two (2), sharpened, No. 2 pencils and a good eraser.

    Students taking the National Olympiad Exam must be US Citizens! Must be willing to return to CBU for the National Olympiad Exam on Saturday April 25, 2009. They must also be willing to attend the training camp during June 21-27, 2009 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. Must be willing to participate in the 41st International Chemistry Olympiad competition July 18-27, 200 in Cambridge, England .
