Math 232 Departmental Syllabus
Calculus III

Catalog Data Algebra of vectors in a plane and in space; the calculus of vectors; vector functions; basic concepts of multivariable calculus; partial derivatives; multiple integrals.
Prerequisite: Math 231

Textbook Multivariable Calculus or Calculus,
Robert T. Smith and Roland B. Minton, third edition, McGraw Hill, 2007

Calculator Policy You must use a graphing calculator, such as the TI-89, on assignments and occasionally on tests.

Computer Usage You must complete several homework assignments that use commercial software called Maple.

Prerequisites You should know fundamental techniques of differentiation and integration for functions of one variable and rudiments of differential equations.

Goals The course teaches you fundamental concepts of the calculus of two and three variables. You will improve your skills in applied problem solving and reasoning requiring techniques of multivariable calculus.
