CBU has launched a partnership with Zipcar, the world’s leading car-sharing network, to offer its program on campus. The service gives students the freedom to go where they want, when they want, without the hassles of car ownership. The partnership also helps CBU meet sustainability goals by reducing the need for personal vehicles and parking spots on campus.
Zipcar is the ideal alternative to car ownership. You pay a one-time membership fee and can rent any Zipcar across the country by the hour or for the day. You don’t pay for gas, insurance (see website for details), or maintenance, and Zipcar offers 24/7 roadside service. Why Uber or Lyft one way, when you can make unlimited stops when you rent a Zipcar?
CBU’s Zipcar, a Ford Focus named Humility, is located in the LLC parking lot in a designated, reserved space so that students can easily identify where the car is to be picked up and returned. Questions can be directed to Sean MacInnes at (901) 321-3335 or email email@example.com.
Students should download and register their profile on the Zipcar app in the Itunes App Store or Google Play. After you register you'll receive a card in the mail to access the vehicle. This card will allow you to open the vehicle, but the keys will be inside the car and must remain in the car after use.
Only one rule...whoever uses the car last, fills it with gas! Don’t worry, you don’t have to pay for the gas. Zipcar provides the gas card that will be located inside the vehicle. After your use of the Zipcar, please return it to the reserved location and lock the vehicle.
