Here is the first day handout for Math 365.

Homework

We began the semester with several lectures on logic. This is based on Appendix B in the text. For these lectures the suggested homework is the odd problems from 1 to 21 and problems 27 and 29. You should work these problems by Mon. Sept. 6.

In the second week we will complete Sections 1.2 and 1.3. The recommended homework for Section 1.2 is all problems and for Section 1.3 it is problems 1-11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22.

We covered sections 1.4 and 1.5 during week three. The recommended homework for those sections is as follows:
Sect. 1.4:     1-11, 14, 17, 19, 21, 22.
Sect. 1.5:     (1-21)odd.

In week four we covered sections 2.1, 2.2 and (most of) 2.3. The homework is to read these sections and to work the following problems.
Sect. 2.1:     3-10, 15-25.
Sect. 2.2:     1-10, (11-25)odd, 31, 33, 34, 35.
Sect. 2.3:     1-15, 17-20, 22, 26-28, 31.

Week five is exam week. We will do section 2.4 and then review for the exam. The exam will be on Friday.

During the weeks of Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 we will cover the following sections.
Sect. 3.1:     1-10, 13, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27.
Sect. 3.2:     1, 4, 5-12, 16, 17, 21, 23.
Sect. 3.3:     1-6, 10-16, 21-26.
Sect. 3.4:     4, 5, 7, 9-15, 19, 21, 27-30.
In week eight (which is the week of Oct. 18) we will do Chapter five. This chapter expands from the whole numbers to the integers. The assigned homework is as follows:
Sect. 5.1:     1-24.
Sect. 5.2:     1, 3, 4, 9-20, 22-25, 30, 33-37, 41, 42, 45.
Sect. 5.3:     1-14, 21, 22.

Week number 9 was exam week. We had exam 2 on friday of this week.

Week nine is Exam week. We will review for the exam on Monday and Wednesday, then have the exam on Friday.

Sect. 4.1:     1-20, 25, 27, 29, 31-34.
Sect. 4.2:     1-8, 16, 17, 19-21.
Sect. 4.3:     1-16, 21-23, 30-32.

Sect. 6.1:     1-22, 30-32.
Sect. 6.2:     1-17, 22, 24-26, 31-39.
Sect. 6.3:     3-20, 24-26, 31-39.
