The first exam will cover chapters 10 and 11. This test is
scheduled for Wednesday July 19. Here is a copy of this exam.
The second exam will be given on Monday, July 31 and will cover
chapters 12 and 13. Here is a copy of that exam .
The final will be offered during the regularly scheduled class time on
Monday August 7. There will be a review for the final on Sunday
August 6. The review will be held in the regular classroom. If any
student has a conflict with the scheduling of the final, contact me
for rescheduling.
Projects
The first project of the
semester is from chapter ten. It will be due Friday July 14 (or
Monday July 17).
Here is the second project of the
semester.
For the third project you must construct an Escher-like tiling. The
finished product must be at least 11 by 14 and an individual tile may
not be so large that 6 or 8 of them cover the entire project. For
some hints on how to construct an individual tile see the section,
Tilings of Escher Type, beginning on page 796 of the text.
You must tell me which polygon you began with and you might want to
include the template for the individual tiles with the work you hand
in. Some part of the grade will be artistic in nature (probably 5
points or so) the rest will be from following directions.
Here is the fourth project of the semester.
It is due on Thursday Aug. 10.
Alert!! Alert!!
There is a misprint in this project. In question 2, the point A
should be (-2,1) instead of (-2,3). I apologize for the error.
Finally here is the fifth, and final,
project of the semester. It
will be due on Mon. Aug. 7.
