Dr. Pourhashemi is an associate professor and the chairman of the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Christian Brothers University (CBU).  He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Howard university.  Before joining CBU, he worked as an adjunct faculty at Howard University where he had taught and managed the Unit Operations and Process Control laboratory courses and supervised graduates students research projects.  He has been teaching various courses in chemical engineering including capstone process design and supervises seniors on their industrial project internships. 

He received the 2003-Featured Engineer Faculty Achievement Award of Memphis Joint Engineers' Council (MJEC), and the Chemical & Biochemical Engineering department award.  He is a member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and serves as a  mentor for American Chemical Society (ACS) student scholars.  He is a member of Grade Appeal Committee at CBU. 

He has authored and coauthored various publications in the area of heat and mass transfer and served as a technical committee member and session moderator in technical conferences.  His interests include developing laboratory experiments, history and sports.  He volunteers to visit Memphis area high school classes to familiarize students with function of engineers in society.
