Read carefully pp. i – 12, noting the paragraphs I pointed out in class. Select an "ancient" math concept for your first topic. (First come, first served. Pi and Arabic numerals have already been chosen.) Of course being upper classmen you know that one of the best study tools is to read ahead so I am sure that you will read (as in reading a novel) up to page 18 “the parallel postulate!” |
|
1/14-F |
Study pp 18 – 26. 28/ 1 (You will need to have read p 27 and previous to do this problem.) Be sure to consult the syllabus on turning in homework. Please realize that I am expecting you to read the text. The author mentions important ideas that I will be skipping over while I will be developing more what the author says and explaining it (in greater detail with good examples, hopefully)! |

11/19-W |
28/2,9 33/4 Be sure to read Legendre’s “proof” of the parallel postulate pp.21,22 and the dangers of diagrams! Read ahead, we will start Chapter 2. |
