Working backwards: age of the Earth
If some atoms are radioactively decaying, then we can work backwards to try and determine when this began.
We notice that only the very long lives radioactive elements are still found, except for a few that we see continually being made (like Carbon-14 and Radon-222). The next slide contains a list of what we still see around.
