Rotation about the Sun
Since the sun seems to move East with respect to the stars, the since the sun seems to go around the earth 365 times a year but the stars seem to go around the earth 366 times a year, the earth must rotate counterclockwise around the sun as viewed above the North Pole. This is the same direction as its spins about its axis.
