Conservation of Energy:

(1/2)mvi2 + mghi + Won = (1/2)mvf2 + mghf + Wby

divide each term by Volume, and note m/V=?,

also note W = F*s, P=F/A so W = P*V:

(1/2)?vi2 + ?ghi + Pi = (1/2)?vf2 + ?ghf + Pf + Plost

examples: lift on wing of airplane, coffee pot, siphon, oil well
